January 17 - Peggy, Michael, Alex, Teri et al:  We had such a stupendous time during our after New Year's visit and thank you, wholeheartedly, for providing us with that beautiful snow cover on the meadow and the forest!  It was made-to-order for photos, snowball fights, snow family sculptures and wet soggy sox.  We loved every minute of it and warmed ourselves up in the evening with my own rather unique version of lamb cassoulet and an odd co-mingling of pan-fried red snapper with herbs, butter and bread crumbs.  Stephie enjoyed the local cheeses, Taylor's downtown CJ sausage place, the very "peace"-ful atmosphere and was inspired to compose several new songs on her guitar.  I had lots of time to plan even more amazing sewing projects and catch up with friends, reading, cartooning, and contemplating the verdant cosmos.  The off-site native ceremonial healing wasn't so shabby either for both restoring my soul and for losing some excess negative psychic baggage.

Twenty Five years my son who had just graduated from CalPoly, San Luis Obispo as an architect and got a job in Long Beach. There was an old avocado tree in the back yard, terribly neglected. He had major surgery done to it and then proceeded to build a one story treehouse with stairway going up to it. He slept in it with his four and now two grandchildren are sleeping there with him. This year for the annual Earth Day (April 22) postcard that I always make, I did a drawing of Tom's tree house, but got carried away and put two more stories onto it with stairways going up into the old avocado tree. The top floor is for birds. Tom has had to do a few adjustments during the years because of the trees growth but otherwise, it will probably be there for 25 more years.

March 15 - Beware the Ides of March! and vacations that are way too short!  I slept so well there this past week that I feel completely refreshed in spite of the long journey home that began at 11:17 last night and ended around 9:30 this morning.  Fog, rain, sleet, then roadside accidents & various Highway Patrol cruisers put somewhat of a restraint on my accustomed lead-foot mode of car driving.  The birds are very glad to see me and eveyone here is fine...even our spring flowers have advanced during the past week - but they're not as bounteous and joyous as yours!!! so it was such a treat to see and photograph them.

At our last class today, my sketching teacher liked the two water color variations of "HisTree Surveys the Yard" and particularly liked an indoor pen and ink sketch of the Cabin's livingroom.

Am wating curiously to see what effect the addition of a hot tub will do to cabin rentals.  Won't moving it over there take it out of range of the other treehouse guests and weary outfitter clients tired from running rapids and climbing up the peaks of their lives? - and your hard working family & staff members?  Hmmm - I'll be watching to see how you "position" that new feature.

The washing machine was extraordinarily good!!  Thanks for providing that wonderful efficient pavilion facility.  I won't hesitate to do larger loads next time (if that becomes necessary).

This last weekend 1/11/03 we stayed in the Forestree and it was more than perfect! Amazing!! We loved the sound of the rain on the roof and swaying in the trees. We felt so secluded from the rest of the world and in our own little heaven. We didn't leave the tree house during our whole stay!

We particularly enjoyed seeing all the spring flowers blooming in the meadow, ditches, forest and at streamside and will come equipped with a larger magnifying glass next time to really capture the details of those tiny plants in better sketches later on....  Ginger & Buddy, Cricket & DeeDee were a delight and we both made friends with Jazz & Merlin with carrots & clovers...  The clematis and other hanging blossoms around the pool were glorious and made up for our being too early to see the wild roses - despite the few near your outbuildings near The Suite and the vegetable garden where the quail live relatively undisturbed.  You've made so many improvements and progressions since March - congratulations on your technical triumphs and aesthetic achievements - especially on those astonishing new aerial walkways.  We're seriously considering a ropes course in the near future...

Anyone who treasures a Nature Vacation will certainly love Takilma's Out 'n' About Treesort in May and June!!!
